Back at Schooner Wharf!
JOHNNY RAWLS
It’s
a long way from rural Mississippi in international blues recognition,
but then Johnny Rawls has never yet found a road he was afraid to
travel. Between touring with such legends as Z.Z. Hill, O.V. Wright, and
Little Johnny Taylor as well as forging a career of his own on the rough
and ready southern blues circuit known affectionately in the
African-American blues community as the “chitlin’ circuit,” Rawls has
spent the better part of twenty years on the road. He is well touted for
playing his sweet soul’d fusion of blues, R&B, and emotion-laden pop
stylings for audiences throughout the south.
His music career has included being O.V. Wright’s and Little Johnny
Taylor’s band leader, founding a record label “Touch”, recording and
producing his own work as well as other artists, while keeping up with
his “white line fever” performances.
Rawls’ musical tastes are varied with a style that’s between gospel,
blues, and good hard soul music, seasoned generously with lush pop
structured melodies as well as hard-driving rhythmic impetus, that kicks
with rock & roll energy.

A
recording legend is back at Schooner Wharf Bar!
PAUL COTTON BAND
Featuring Paul Cotton from POCO
“I
absolutely dare you to listen to this CD* without a lump in your throat
or longing for the beach, high tide, and your sails in the air....”
–Mark T. Gould / Soundwaves Magazine
Multi gold and platinum recording artist Paul Cotton is back on our
stage with his band for two very special “don’t miss” performances.
Country rock band Poco’s dominant songwriter, lead vocalist and lead
guitarist, Paul’s 45-year career has yielded countless albums and
accolades, and his staying power is endless.
Born in the deep South and raised on the south side of Chicago, the
soulful influences of his roots can still be heard in his songs. Still
waters run deep, and this quiet man writes songs about love and longing,
painting pictures with his brilliant story telling. And his guitar sound
has been described as “Big Cowboy”.
With local musicians Marty Stonely, Russ Skabudda, Joel Nelson, and Greg
Shandley, this band will perform favorites like Poco’s “Heart of the
Night” and “Crazy Love”, plus originals, Trop Rock, and New
Orleans-influenced tunes with a southern tinge.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear “a legend in his own write”!
